Prohibit Transfer of dolphins to Greece!

Greece needs your help to stop the transportation of 4 captive dolphins from Finland to Greece. In spite of Greek legislation that prohibits the use of all animals from performing spectacles and relevant activities, the Attica Zoological Park still puts on dolphin shows under the guise of “Educational presentations”. What is most worrisome is the fact that during the last 6 years, 5 dolphins have died in the dolphinarium of the Attika Park; 3 of them were newborn babies. Please help us prevent the transport of these dolphins into a life of captivity and performances to which there is no escape from apart from death.

We are asking the responsible minister Mr. Tsironis:

1) To disapprove and prohibit the transfer of the 4 dolphins from the Aquarium of the municipality of Tampere, Finland, that has recently been closed, to the Attica Zoological Park.

2) To keep his promise (that was given in the press) and move to the direct application of the law in order to stop the shows with the cetaceans and other marine mammals and to take the legal initiative regarding the full prohibition of cetacean’s captivity in our country.

We are also asking the municipality of the city of Tampere to not proceed with the transfer of their dolphins to Greece, but to find an appropriate sanctuary that fulfills their set specifications for animal welfare and ethical treatment. Attica Park is in no case such a place because in the past five years, five dolphins have died at the Attica Zoological Park.
