Save the Whales This Giving Tuesday

Topics: Dolphins, Whales

The International Marine Mammal Project would like to invite you to support our work to protect dolphins and whales this coming Giving Tuesday.

IMMP is one of the most effective nonprofit organizations working to protect whales, dolphins and their ocean homes.

IMMP established the Dolphin Safe tuna label in 1990, which help prevent the deaths of up to 100,000 dolphins annually, a tremendous accomplishment that Time Magazine called one of the most important environmental gains of the 90s. Today we have more than 800 tuna companies around the world – more than 90% of the global tuna industry – pledged to fish for tuna only in ways that do not chase, harass, injure or kill any dolphins.

Today, we support tuna monitors around the world who continuously check tuna vessels, canneries, cold storage units, and tuna procurement records to ensure that the Dolphin Safe label on canned tuna is verified.

We successfully rehabilitated Keiko, the orca star of the hit movie Free Willy, and returned him to his home waters in Icleand.

We are working with Covington and Burling, one of the largest legal firms in the US, and expert witnesses in suing SeaWorld, to have the courts compel them to tell truth about their captive orcas.

We recently helped local Russian conservationists achieve a signal victory in stopping new permits from being issued to the captivity industry to rip wild orcas and beluga whales from their families in the wild and sell them to Chinese aquariums for a lifetime of doing tricks in small tanks for dead fish.

Your dollar donations go farther, as IMMP is a small organization with a dedicated staff that stretches our resources, helping other grassroots organizations achieve protection for whales and dolphins, and not afraid to take on big opponents like SeaWorld and the Trump Administration.

We don’t give up, as we well learned from the founder of Earth Island, legendary activist David Brower.

We ask you to join us in this effort to protect these intelligent and social beings that are so beautiful and innocent of any wrongs towards us humans. We can protect them, with your help!

Donations are tax deductible. Charity rating services give IMMP high marks for our transparency and ethical standards for donations.

Thanks again for all your support for our work in the past! We wish you and your family the best in this holiday season.
