Protesting Japan’s Whaling and Dolphin Hunting in San Francisco

On Sept. 1st, the International Marine Mammal Project (IMMP} joined the protest in front of the Japanese Consulate in downtown San Francisco. With our inflatable big blue dolphin and about 40 protestors from several organizations, we made quite a good noise for three hours straddling the lunch period.

Our request to meet with the Japanese Consul General was turned down, but I’ve been invited to meet a staff member on Tuesday, Sept. 6th, when I plan to give them a copy of our letter to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and a copy of “The Cove” DVD.

Our thanks to all who turned out in San Francisco and all around the world for demonstrations marking the beginning of the Taiji dolphin hunt season. We need to keep the pressure on the Japan Fisheries Agency and the dolphin hunters, and never give up.

Sign our petition to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
